Developing film in a small bathroom
You do not need a darkroom to develop film; you need a dark place for about two minutes. I load the reels inside a changing bag, close the tank, and do everything else with the lights on.
- Bring the developer to 20 °C. Temperature matters more than brand.
- Agitate for the first thirty seconds, then four inversions every minute.
- Stop with plain water, fix for five minutes, wash for ten.
- Hang the film somewhere without dust. The shower works.
Write down the time, temperature and dilution for every roll. After ten rolls you will have your own development chart, which is worth more than any table printed on a box.
